Nichole Lacy, AAS, CVT, CVPM

Principal Monitor

  • Graduated from Front Range Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Research Technology in 1999.

  • Passed the national board exam and became a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) in 1999 and worked in private practice as a CVT from 1999-2007.

  • Passed the national boards and became a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) in 2007 and worked as a CVPM in private practice from 2007-2013.

  • Worked as a part-time Instructor at Front Range Community College and IBMC (Institute of Business & Careers) teaching courses in Pharmacology and Client Relations from 2008-2010.

  • Started my amazing career at AlcheraBio in February 2013.

Fun Fact:

  • Used to breed CFA registered Cornish Rex cats, but now we just have two pet cats- one Sphynx “Gwenie” and one Selkirk Rex “Agatha.”

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • The desire to work with intelligent people who share my passion for improving the lives of animals each and every day.

Stephanie Werrlein, CVT, RLATG, SRA, SRS

Principal Monitor

  • Been with AlcheraBio team since June of 2018

  • Previously held position at Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson) as an Associate Scientist in Preclinical Research functionality and safety (16+ years)

  • Experienced as Study Director/Coordinator and as a Project Manager

  • Certified in surgical research (Academy of Surgical Research) and conducted most studies as laboratory animal surgeon.

  • Certified as veterinary technician in NJ, I spent my earlier years supporting routine day practices as well as 24-hour emergency clinic veterinarians

Fun Fact:

  • I obtained my motorcycle license and bought my first bike so I can now ride with my friends

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • Animals, especially companion animals, play an immensely positive role in human lives providing unconditional love and affection. Animal lives can be very short, so if I can play a role in helping them to live better and longer lives, which will in turn improve our own, then there’s no better reason

Lesley McNamara, B.Sc

Senior Monitor

  • Been with AlcheraBio since 2014

  • Worked at Merck for 20 years in human and animal health research

  • Merck Human Health worked in areas of diabetes and cardiovascular medicine.

  • Merck Animal health areas of research include food production animal, companion animal areas of pain and obesity. Contributed to pre-clinical discovery studies for Previcox and GastroGard (equine).

  • Worked in equine hospital performing anesthesia and ICU care, and running clinic laboratory.

Fun Fact:

  • I like to spend my free time doing activities with my dogs, hiking, kayaking, sheepherding and competing in rally obedience.

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • I feel it is great to be a part of bringing exciting and innovative new veterinary products to Pet Owners

Linnea Bloomquist, B.A.

Senior Monitor

  • I worked as a veterinary assistant when I was in high school and during the summers while I was in college

  • I went to New York University and graduated with a degree in Dramatic Literature, with a minor in Creative Writing

  • After college, I was a veterinary technician at a cat clinic for six and a half years before coming to AlcheraBio

  • I participated in clinical trials while working as a tech

  • I have been a monitor at AlcheraBio since April 2015

Fun Fact:

  • I play the viola in my town’s community orchestra, and I’m in a band called the Rude Mechanicals

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • Animals have always been an important part of my life, and it makes me proud to be a part of making their lives better

James Ward, B.Sc

Monitor

  • Previous study director of domestic and international projects for J&J

  • Scientific positions in toxicology, pharmaceutical R&D, pharmacology and pre-clinical studies

  • Previously employed by Wyeth-Ayerst, Anaquest, Merck and Johnson & Johnson

  • Most proud of 3 patents for J&J Medical, collaborating with international affiliates

Fun Fact

  • I enjoy boat sailing

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • I enjoy working on a variety of products that improve the quality of life for animals.

Jennifer Mauger, AAS

Monitor

  • Started working in a veterinary hospital at 16 years old

  • I have worked in small animal hospitals, emergency hospitals and pre-clinical pharmaceutical before working as a monitor of clinical trials

  • Was able to perform surgeries while in the pre-clinical department

Fun Fact:

  • After having my son, I watched the doctor use a hemostasis product on him, which I helped bring to market while working in the pre-clinical department

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • Seeing that what I help bring to market can help the lives of so many pets, mine included

Karen Six, B.Sc

Monitor

  • Received Associate in Applied Animal Science degree from the University of New Hampshire

  • Received Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Hampshire

  • Worked as exam room tech and receptionist at two different small animal clinics

  • Employed as a Vivarium and Reproductive Toxicology Technician at Ciba Giegy

  • Employed as a Monitor at SCIREX Corporation, Pfizer Animal Health and currently at AlcheraBio

Fun Fact:

  • In between monitoring for Pfizer Animal Health and AlcheraBio I took a little break from monitoring while my husband and I owned and operated a Great Harvest Bread Company bakery

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • Being part of a team that contributes to helping our furry friends live longer and healthier lives

Kristen F. Ryan, PSM-MBS

Associate Monitor

  • Have my Masters Degree in Biotechnology & Genomics, which somehow led me to Veterinary Health!

  • Have been working at AlcheraBio since 2015

  • Moved through the ranks from the Clinical Administration Team to the Monitoring Team

  • I love being able to work from home and the flexibility of the job (Cali and Gunther love it too)

  • I love being able to travel all over the country to work with different Animal Hospitals

Fun Fact:

  • In my spare time, Cali and I enjoy adventures together (riding in the Jeep to the beach, swimming/hiking) We love any activity we can do together (especially cuddling) and visiting her sisters in Vermont.

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • Working towards getting medications approved that would positively impact the health of our pets is very rewarding

Catherine DelGaudio, B.Sc

Associate Monitor

  • I started at AlcheraBio as a Data Entry/Study Assistant when I was in my junior year of college.

  • I’ve been a Data Entry/Study Assistant, Associate Clinical Administrator, Clinical Administrator, Senior Clinical Administrator, Manager of Clinical Resources and Senior Manager of Clinical Resources.

  • I have been with AlcheraBio since January 2013

  • Before working at AlcheraBio, I was an Animal Care Intern at the Staten Island zoo.

Fun Fact

  • My dog was featured in the AlcheraBio informational video. The attached image of Martini was taken during that process and she loved being the center of attention.

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • I love the fact that we help improve the lives of animals around the world. The investigational veterinary products that are being tested in our many clinical trials have the ability to improve the quality of life for the animals that use them. I also love AlcheraBio’s team environment. The people that make up the AlcheraBio team are fantastic at constantly encouraging each other to learn and develop. If someone doesn’t know how they should be tackling a certain task, there is always someone around willing to help figure the situation out.

Christie Cevallos, B.Sc

Associate Monitor

  • I have been a Clinical Administrator since 2015 and in 2018 I became a Monitor

  • I have a Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Animal Science from Rutgers University

  • I was a veterinary technician at a small animal and exotic veterinary hospital

  • I volunteered at wildlife rescue centers to rehabilite animals back into the wild

  • I am a licensed Emergency Medical Technician

Fun Fact:

  • My dog Snoopy will always lay on his back when he sees a hamster because he loves the way they scratch his belly.

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • My passion for animals.

Carly Eidman, B.Sc

Associate Monitor

  • I graduated from Delaware Valley University with a B.S. in Animal Science

  • Before AlcheraBio, I was a veterinary technician at a small animal hospital in central NJ

  • Growing up with only my pets as siblings gave me the passion for wanting to work towards helping animals every day.

Fun Fact:

  • I raise Nigerian Dwarf goats, chickens, and honey bees.

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • Being able to help with the process of creating drugs that can benefit the lives of animals all over the world.

Evelyn Chang, B.A., LVT

Associate Monitor

  • Graduate of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (DE) and Certified Veterinary Technician (NJ)

  • Worked as both a Veterinary Technician and Supervisor of the Veterinary Assistants at Raritan Animal Hospital.  Focused on patient care, devised and implemented new training procedures, helped educate clients on animal health topics, and developed marketing concepts.

  • Worked as Scientist 1 in Pre-Clinical Research, assisting in surgical model development for medical devices, at Ethicon INC, a Johnson and Johnson Company.  Assisted in the development and implementation of new surgical procedures and technologies.

  • Worked with Sales and Marketing departments on Design Validation, Voice of Customer, and Professional Education labs at Ethicon INC, a Johnson and Johnson Company.   Showcase current products, developing prototypes, and gather input from surgeons and nurses.

Fun Fact:

  • Enjoy baking and cooking since “People who love to eat are always the best people” -Julia Child

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • I really like working at AlcheraBio since we are working with cutting edge Veterinary Medicine.  It is great to learn about new innovative ways to help improve animal health and work with colleagues who share the same passion.  Seeing cute animals in the waiting rooms of our sites is also a great plus!

Chelsea Evans

Associate Monitor

  • Vet Assistant/Team Lead in Veterinary Clinic for 11 years

  • Veterinary Technician in Clinic for 5 years

  • Foster/Volunteer for Animal Rescue Project of Kalamazoo

  • Volunteer with rescue for 15 years

Fun Fact:

  • In 2017, I adopted out over 200 kittens.  I also advocate for FIV positive cats!

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • I love seeing and interacting with all kinds of different clinics!

Melissa Hartinger, DVM

Associate Monitor

  • I graduated from UC Davis School of Vet Med in 2003

  • I worked in small animal private practice in Davis for nearly 15 years

  • I decided I wanted to make a change, but I was looking for a way to still have an impact in vet med

  • I discovered AlcheraBio through a vet school classmate, and I knew it would be a perfect fit

  • I started my career as a monitor with AlcheraBio in January of 2018.

Fun Fact:

  • I love to cook, garden, read, and snuggle with my golden retriever.

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • I love being part of a process that contributes to the health and wellness of animals worldwide!

Erica Ofeldt, DVM

Associate Monitor

  • Worked for Johns Hopkins Medical School’s Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychiatry Department conducting obesity and ingestive behavior research

  • Volunteered and shadowed the Comparative Medicine Department at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

  • Special interest in Public Health, prior to veterinary school took masters classes in Public Health, and during veterinary school took extra electives in Public Health, Lab Animal Medicine and Research

  • Completed an externship at National Institute of Health with the Comparative Medicine Department

  • Worked as a Public Health Veterinarian on ensuring compliance with government regulations for the United States Department of Agriculture

Fun Fact:

  • I consider myself an avid collector of fur babies. My husband and I have 3 dogs: Bandit, Bimmer, and Boh and 2 cats: Raven and Gulliver.

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • I have always had a passion for the One Health Initiative, and by working at AlcheraBio I am able to help contribute to the advancement of animal health and potentially benefit human health.

Joy McDougal, B.A.

Associate Monitor

  • Certified Guide Dog Mobility Instructor for 9+ years training dogs for the blind and instructing students who are visually impaired to live, work, and care for the guide dogs.

  • Worked as a Veterinary Technician at Raritan Animal Hospital

  • Managed a cat boarding facility, and was a Groomers Assistant

  • Served as a Veterinary Product Information Specialist, addressing and recording adverse reactions related to animal health products

  • Worked on Rutgers University farm, managing sheep, goats, and swine

Fun Fact:

  • Currently enrolled as a student at The University of Massachusetts obtaining my Masters in Education

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • I love contributing to animals around the world, aiding in the development of new drugs that enable animals to live longer, healthier, and happier lives

Jennifer Maher, B.Sc

Associate Monitor

  • I studied Nutritional Science at Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences

  • I have worked as a veterinary technician since 2015 at both private practices and animal shelters

  • I have previously worked as a research associate on various U.S.D.A. studies

Fun Fact:

  • I am a fur-foster parent; I almost always have a foster kitten or puppy under my roof

Shauna Glynn, B.Sc, DVM

Associate Monitor

  • Attended veterinary school at Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine and performed a clinical year at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine

  • Previously worked as a practicing small animal veterinarian in Edison and Bridgewater, NJ

  • Graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Nutritional Science

  • Was the medical director of People for Animal Welfare on St. Kitts, a feline and canine rescue group in St. Kitts

  • I have 2 children, 3 dogs, and 3 cats

My Inspiration as Part of the Team:

  • I’m inspired to work at AlcheraBio because I am very excited about the advancement of veterinary medicine and being part of the people that bring new treatments for different conditions to pets and their people in order to make their lives better
